Injector Problems 1996 Tracker/Sidekick/SunRunner - CudEastbound - 11-17-2023 Hi everyone, this is my first time posting, appreciate any help as I am at a loss. basically my 1996 Pontiac Sunrunner is only firing on 1 & 4 cylinder, this issue took a week to happen, so it was a slow inter mitten issue that is now full on. The vehicle runs, but has barely any power, as it is only running on 2 cylinders. Spark plugs, wires, distributor, MAP Sensor, and wiring harness all A+ and tested. There is no pulse on injector 2 & 3 (the two middle ones) Both injectors work on bench test, and I've even swapped them with the injectors from 1 and 4... no change. I took the computer apart and inspected it, none of the caps are leaking, no corrosion, everything looks perfect and clean. Still zero pulse going to injector 2 & 3. Is there anything else I should check before trying to buy a new ECM? I live off grid in the Yukon, and am currently cut off from any roads or civilization until the Yukon River freezes, so I'm trying my best to sort this out with what I have, I unfortunately don't have a code reader. Thank you RE: Injector Problems 1996 Tracker/Sidekick/SunRunner - fixkick - 12-07-2023 G16B engine right? the ECU seems bad. (if wires good to injectors) and you swap injector 1 and 2 and 2 is still bad the transistors seen here are bad. I have replaced them. so the scan tool is not used? no CKP errors? P03xx errors. got those? this next line of texts works only for our 96, suzuki makes lots of ECUs' for many countries. if you are in canada. Yukon? , they went OBD2 in 1998 and uses unique parts. the country matters, huge here, for parts. for sure ECU,(due to smog rules (ecu) in your country. The ECU has part number on the lid that matters huge. now told is this a 5speed manual or auto transmission that too matters for ECU p/n you will discover a NOID lamp tests fails on both injectors. (or scope) the 2 wires on each injector 1, is 12vdc battery we check that first. for sure. the other wire is the PnP signal wire that fires the injector on a low going pulse to ground ,fast. Power is always first, the 12vdc pin must be HOT. 12vdc. a simple voltmeter finds this easy. a $15 tool here is my 1996 ECU, USA federal spec ECU. not CALIF. 4wd , manual tranny , is -71E11 (< suffix code label) https://fixkick.com/ECU/1996/96ECU.html Q201 to Q205 are it. Japanese made and coded and standard 2SD2422 Q102 = INJ#1, Q103=INJ#2, Q104=INJ#3, Q105=INJ#4 https://fixkick.com/ECU/1996/96ECU.html NPn, biopolar transistors, 100v, 8amp,,2 to 30watts if kept cool the data sheet I have is here https://fixkick.com/All-Pdfs/ECU/rohm-d2025.pdf The CKP sensor and its tone wheel must be bad. The CKP fits in front of crank pulley , is the bolt on the center of the crank pulley loss as vast were? if it is loose the CPK will not produce consistent pulses ever. the crank pulley boot is 95ft/lbs spec, not 30 no 50 or it fails. hard. one trick here is to unplug the CKP sensors, and amazing the engine runs like that, and is the PCM(ECU) goes to Distributor sensor unplugged the ECU now uses the Distributor CMP sensor to do it all. and see P03xx errors you will or CKP dead. why not scan the PCM first. or is there no OBD2 port to the left bottom of steering column????? called and OBD2 DLC port? for the scanner? sorry I cant see the car and go in 1sec flat what car this really is. (for sure OBD2 rules) Even the most cheap ever made scan tool works even a $15 elm works. to a laptop. or PC. if the 0bd2 port is really there. GOT THIS DLC port port???????????????????? if not the car is OBD1, and uses DLC jumper wire to see FLASH codes. OBD2 USA spec. 96 https://fixkick.com/ECU/ODB2/OBD-facts.html to work on this car find the DLC port. ( under dash is OBD2, or under hood is OBD1 this is first make sure 12vdc key on makes it to all 4 injectors, this is a must and has zero to do with ECU, wires and fuses make this wire hot. if OBD1 use the jumper seen here (jumper flash codes) https://fixkick.com/CEL/DLC/DiagJump.html#gen2 for obd2 use the under dash , OBD2 DLC port using any scan tool ever made, and scan it, even buy the most cheap code reader to see the P03xx codes for sure. RE: Injector Problems 1996 Tracker/Sidekick/SunRunner - fixkick - 12-07-2023 sorry I am so late to help. this server never emails me with new posts. |
