1997 stuck in limp home? - ingler - 09-30-2016 i have done a conversion on a samurai using the 1997 geo tracker engine. I totally rebuilt the motor and now that its running I am having tuning issues. the harness was modified by Trail Tough and done away with the crank position sensor as in my location I don't need to smog test. after driving I have pulled the codes with a generic code reader and have the following codes P0102,P0135,p0335.p0450,p0400,p0461,p1410. I am kinda at a loss as to where to start. the car is running really rich and has little power for a brand new engine. I am running a Thorley header and catalytic converter with a 2 inch exhaust. looking at buying a scanner with real time data but not sure on a brand or type that will do the necessary things I need. any help would be greatly appreciated. RE: 1997 stuck in limp home? - fixkick - 09-30-2016 welcome, so those trail tuff guys, think there harness works on oBD2 cars? why? see the free 96FSM (pdf) http://www.acksfaq.com/2016bp.php?urlname=http://www.acksfaq.com/HTML/trackerfsm.htm each of those codes are fully explained in the 96 book, Sure its in limphome, how could it not be. there will be more codes, as this newer ECU is smarter, it hides tests, when majors fail, like P0421 . Cat dead. and with no CKP sensor all misfire checks go DEAD. and maybe proper timing, it will run but timing will suffer. the big killer is 102, the MAF is dead. and is a $1000 sensor at suzuki, and lots of clones sold that are useless (Cardone sells a goo sensor) 102,is limphome, it can measure air so must GUESS, wildly and does so BADLY on all cars, with this dead. test the maf , per my page. the tests are super easy, but clean it first. from 6 inchs away, its fragile. (maf cleaner CRC) takes only a volt meter. keyon, idle, gunned. to test it. http://www.fixkick.com/sensors/92-95MAF/92-95-MAF-testing.html refr: full list of DTCs 96 to 98. http://www.fixkick.com/CEL/DTCs-1.pdf http://www.fixkick.com/ECU/LimpHome/failsafe.html 135 dead O2 heater 335 dead crank sensor , limphome for sure 450 EVAP dead (tank vent system) 400 , EGR deal. 461, Fuel Level Sensor Circuit Performance, fuel sensor messed up. 1410,EVAP dead , one more way. MAF = P0102/103 IAT = P0112/113 ECT = P0117/118 TPS = P112/123 VSS1 = P0500 ( speedo vss) Vehicle Speed sensor = VSS) you wont get this until you drive it a ways... A/T only below. TR = P0705 (A/T Range shifter output in conflict) VSS2 = P0720 ( 4sp Vss tail speed sensor dead) SS#1 = P0753 (shift solenoid 1 bad) SS#2 = P0758 (shift solenoid 2 bad) TCC = P0743 (torque converter clutch malf) |
