BOSCH 1100 scan tool? - rasmeidirt - 08-24-2016 I have purchased a Bosch 1100 scan tool in the hope that it would accurately read my 1996 Suzuki Sidekick Sport with 1.8L drive chain cam engine. When I plugged it into the OBD 2 connection plug, the tool asked on the screen to select a vehicle and a list of vehicles appeared on the screen. I scrolled down; Suzuki is not in the list! Do you think the Bosch 1100 scan tool read codes in my Suzuki? Or I need to buy another one with Suzuki in the list? Thanks, RE: BOSCH 1100 scan tool? - fixkick - 08-24-2016 (08-24-2016, 03:21 PM)rasmeidirt Wrote: I have purchased a Bosch 1100 scan tool in the hope that it would accurately read my 1996 Suzuki Sidekick Sport with 1.8L drive chain cam engine. Ive never used a BOsch tool, ever, there like 1000 brands of tools sold today, and never head or seen one ever fail on this suzuki ever, (not this year) the car is a USA car and is 100% OBD2 compliant, my guess. the fuse DOme is blown, (do the dome lights work, in car?) is the OBD2 jack at knee , pin 16, have 12vdc for sure key on? it must the OBD2 port , the following pins must be wired 2,3,4,5,6 and 16, (at least) on the car did you plug in the tool first. then turn the cars ignition to ON, or start engine now? the press all bottoms on the tool ? the tool will not work if the fuse to pin 16 is blown in the car, It will not. we check pin 16 first , or all bets off. pin 16 is 12vdc power. pin. if not 12vdc (use a DMM meter to read it) the there IS A FUSE BLOWN. no OBD2 tool ive ever seen ask for car data, it scan the PCM and learns all that, first. some tools might go to asking questions when the COMM link is dead or the Pin 16 pin power is DEAD. all tools work here, even the most cheap to most expensive. (USA tools) and by Law. RE: BOSCH 1100 scan tool? - fixkick - 08-24-2016 page 10 in your manual shows. If a “LINK ERROR” message appears, cycle the ignition key to the OFF position for 10 seconds, then back ON, then press the ENTER key . Make sure the ignition key is in the ON not the ACCESSORY position . (me) 12vdc on pin 16, got that? measure that yet? then plug in tool then press enter to get the main menu of the tool. watch for LINK errors. (means lost communications) does the tool screen light up? press enter over and over, or hold it down to get to the menu. or press read, button same way to get a menu. some tools have an internal battery, that must be ok, do not press VIN selection this car does not have this feature. (tool might get confused if you try that) try to know that there are no tools that will have a list of cars and matching data, showing suzuki in the list. nor is it ever needed, this tool data list. (by data i mean DTC code xxxxx means abcdefghijklmnope, etc)) the list is ONLY for telling what a code means, and most makers have no books on this car. nor want to pay $4000 to suzuki to get said information. yes, suzuki charges them big money to get this data (info). and is not needed ever. stay out of the data pages.... is my advice, hIT BACK button. when you key on, it goes to a menu of cars first? if yes?, press enter or read buttons to exit this mode. (the book on page 7 tells you to press BACK button (means exit) did you DO THAT?) if by chance the back button is dead, (how?) then try this. well pick chevy tracker. (i bet "Tracker" that be missing too.) my guesses: 1: FUSE IN CAR BLOWN TO PIN 16 ON OBD2 DTC PORT . 2: not using the tools back button (the press read) key on, or running. 3: link errors, for comm loss. not noticed. RE: BOSCH 1100 scan tool? - rasmeidirt - 08-25-2016 Fuse is not blown. I mean the tool itself. Before I go to the main menu, I have to go through the list of vehicles to select mine and Suzuk is not in that list! Please look at this: http://www.boschdiagnostics.com/diy/products/bosch-obd-1100 RE: BOSCH 1100 scan tool? - fixkick - 08-25-2016 use a voltmeter on pin 16 yet. scan another car yet, ? with your tool. ask a shop to check your tool in your car. get your car scanned at auto-store or any shop see if their tools works, if not pin 16 is dead, back to my first question. RE: BOSCH 1100 scan tool? - fixkick - 08-25-2016 if you scan the internet, i see no hits on people using this tool, must be new. so hard to get help lacking others with success... |
