RE: EGR stall test question - fixkick - 08-21-2014 good luck to you !!! RE: EGR stall test question - zukitrek - 08-21-2014 OK sir what will be, wiil be, thats fate!! TB vacuum port now used, engine gunned connected at P nipple, is very weak with no effect on EGR main, so mani goes off friday. I re-tested EGR main with plenum vacuum at P nipple thru disconnected VSV and car shook more (although we know fails the stall) than from the vacuum of the TB port gunned. Photos and results will come later. Hopefully good pictures and better results. I'll keep you posted. RE: EGR stall test question - fixkick - 08-21-2014 it may be weak, there is no load. (MOD in path)? see my text page, on all tests one can do with vacuum path. http://www.fixkick.com/sensors/EGR/theory.txt vacuum testing sucks... LOL see this, updated page, http://www.fixkick.com/sensors/tests/cat-con-tests.html The above can be done best, if the stall test passes and the 4 EGR ports are clear. keep in mind , that 1 port blocked and 3 clear might make the stall seem good, this is why the 4 port car is a pistol to fix/test RE: EGR stall test question - zukitrek - 08-21-2014 Great these tests are but cleaning the quad ports from hell is the first thing. Once I know they are clean then I rule them out and proceed with other test in case there is still 51's. Thanks!! I sent you a link with an FSM i found. Here is the link again: https://www.mediafire.com/?6m4knwirapjqc3y You mentioned that you dont have one? Maybe this is the one? Regards!! RE: EGR stall test question - fixkick - 08-21-2014 that is what i'd do, with any quad port, just knowing they are clear,is everything. 2nd is to learn if car is a moving or non moving fast EGR ECU. (so we know how to test it) if you get any good results from my cheaters (jump hose) ideas; let me know or learn other tricks, to pass/fail these parts. id like to know. keep in mind testing the MOD valve is very tricky , on car. the exhaust pulses can hit 5psi under full load,(instant, not average, max avg. is 2 psi @ 2500 rpm) this funny MOD valve uses that pulse wave. http://www.fixkick.com/videos/FLV-all/showtime.html#EGRMOD the bench test is easy. for sure. it blows from P to Q and Q to P in hand. and blows from either to the filter, in hand, if not the filter port is clogged,in the device, it can be cleaned. if all that works, then i latch it up, by blowing in the B port. I blow gently the diaphram locks up. the valve. http://www.fixkick.com/sensors/EGR/modvalve-extra-test.html RE: EGR stall test question - zukitrek - 08-22-2014 Got it. Cant wait for friday night to start working on her. After all I think the outcome will be great! Thanks!! Once I know they are clean then I rule them out and proceed with other test in case there is still 51's. nice 91 manual and has hot links that work, super nice thanks ! it's same as my hard copy 1991 but does not cover 16v's RE: EGR stall test question - fixkick - 08-22-2014 i think i can top that. i have the 1995 esteem Balero book, well a link to one. see volume 1 and 2 here http://ge.tt/4AIKgtr1/v/0?c v2 , page 6E104 no code 51s on cars outside, USA. so only USB books and only G16B 16v helps. http://www.ebay.com/itm/1994-GEO-TRACKER-SERVICE-SHOP-REPAIR-MANUAL-/271314329405?pt=Motors_Manuals_Literature&hash=item3f2b981f3d&vxp=mtr or pricey http://www.ebay.com/itm/1995-Geo-Tracker-Original-Repair-Shop-Manual-95-Service-Chevrolet-Chevy-Service-/400505186520?pt=Motors_Manuals_Literature&hash=item5d3ff828d8&vxp=mtr but if you keep looking, they pop up cheap, RE: EGR stall test question - zukitrek - 08-22-2014 So the FSM I sent you does not apply to car/year model? I'll have a look at it. Back to the EGR main, remember that pulling the EGR main by hand with a fully warmed up car fails the stall test? So my suspicions are (and I do know), that some of the passages in the mani that we have talked about may not be fully clean/unclogged/free of carbon. That is why that will be done first so I can for sure rule out any blockage. The other test then will follow but with the assurance of a clean path all the way. Javier RE: EGR stall test question - fixkick - 08-22-2014 its for only 91, and 91s only have 8v here. you need books on 16v, MPI ,,G16B engine. oops your book is non usa, and 51 is missing, so wrong engine and country. but the test for vsv etc are all valid. the books i have are EU, cars and they dont have code 51 at all. cept the only books that cover this is a real USA FSM. for you year, and engine. first year is 1992, not 91, in 92 they introduced your engine here. state side. the stall test is first (sorry im answering on 5 forums for EGR and forget who did what tests.) ok yours fails the stall, , it can be just the main valve dirty, |
