J RE: A/T 4speed fails, car wont move until hot. - fixkick - 08-31-2014 post 62 and the filter has yet to be changed why ramble off on other issues, and costs, parts, steps, and etc, why not just to do the service, and see what happens, why not? why vacillate? RE: A/T 4speed fails, car wont move until hot. - zukitrek - 08-31-2014 Yes sir I still have not done the filter change nor the tranny flush home style. What do you recommend? RE: A/T 4speed fails, car wont move until hot. - zukitrek - 09-01-2014 Well Kick I tried the stall test but some how it did not work. Let me explain. When I put the lever in D that first morning start, it does not move right? OK what it does is that after being warmed up tranny suddenly engages (you hear a light clunk) and then moves forward. That is my situation right now. Ok I then went on to do the stall test cold, put the lever in D stepped on the gas pedal real hard, both brakes applied. RPMs started going up and then? Clunk! Tranny engaged doing that clunk I told you about. As RPMS were going up (close to 3000) when it engaged they dropped to normal range. SO Im kind of lost. Should I wait until it actually engages and then proceed to do the test? Remember you asked me if filter was still on (old one) and it is, and I asked you if tranny flush can be performed anyways? Hope u understand all this. J RE: A/T 4speed fails, car wont move until hot. - fixkick - 09-01-2014 the stall fails New filter time... could ding the long forgotten service, get my pressure back,, only a new filter can answer that, no man on earth can guess. RE: A/T 4speed fails, car wont move until hot. - fixkick - 09-01-2014 stall fails still , at post 66 and still no new filter. why? why think past this little part, why? RE: A/T 4speed fails, car wont move until hot. - zukitrek - 09-02-2014 Ok. Never saw on your post the B&G system, but not going to do it anyways. I read the reason for why neglected (100k and over) trannys fail after a fluid change and that is what Ive been told by local mechanics. So I got it let her fail? Change the filter and hope for the best is my way then. Too bad I only got aware about proper maintenance so late. Thanks for your time. Will let you know any news. J RE: A/T 4speed fails, car wont move until hot. - fixkick - 09-02-2014 the trans is failing the filter is the next step and not done at post 67 its your money, and risk, if doing only the filter fixes car, do so . but if not, you still need to get the nasty old atf out of car. do my drain 3 times, method, that is gentle. its your risk,, your only risking a bad transmission fails totally sooner and now shifts late. so it is getting worse are you running snake oil now, before the filter replacement/?????????????????????????? RE: A/T 4speed fails, car wont move until hot. - zukitrek - 09-02-2014 Yes I know is like traveling on a reputable airline for the first time with a 0 lost baggage percentage claims and they loose your baggage? Well then do the new filter and DIY 3 quart tranny flush? The worst: run like a scared roach on a chicken corral looking for a donor tranny(increasing the chance of a second fail) or coming out the winners circle. When removing pan, can I remove valve body just to give it a visual inspection or at this point is irrelevant? But on a post before that i wrote (09-02-2014, 12:01 AM)zukitrek Wrote: Change the filter and hope for the best is my way then. Too bad I only got aware about proper maintenance so late. My big concern is this Im risking too much, dont u agree? Car shifts fine so far, and it could very well fail tomorrow (fate)and then I would need to resolve problem like right away. But if changing the fluid leads to this lets say this next weekend then I would find myself in a tight spot, even though the total fail possibility is close but has not happened yet. J |
