RE: 97 Sidekick Sport 1.8L - CUTS OUT AT 1/4 THROTTLE - fixkick - 02-04-2017 it could be other things, but no EFI live data WAS presented what if the ECT shows 150f.? and now runs rich and misfires. not using full scan tool and look at all valid PID data, is a sad thing... for sure if one sensor reads wrong..... saD. we think it is not going lean, but answers to my questions on WOT, none/ my question to OP is: if fuel pressure is at spec, then what.? in shop they check injector pulse width. (duration under the misfire conditions, if good, the ECU has done ALL It can do. IF pulses Wrong here, the ECU has bad inputs if good pulses and the spark plasma tests, show good spark then... leaving bad clogged injector, one or more RE: 97 Sidekick Sport 1.8L - CUTS OUT AT 1/4 THROTTLE - MtTrails - 02-07-2017 I had the fuel rail off and the injectors out. When I re-started the engine of course it was missing until the fuel pressure came up, but it set these codes. Are they just from having it apart? PO 122 Throttle / Pedal position sensor / Switch A circuit Low PO 122 Throttle / Pedal position sensor / Switch A circuit High Also, I haven't figured out what to do about the slacked kick down cable and whether or not that would cause a miss. RE: 97 Sidekick Sport 1.8L - CUTS OUT AT 1/4 THROTTLE - fixkick - 02-07-2017 key turn on,with the TPS connector unplugged, does that. or bad tps. or calibrated wrong, not .95, at idle but below .2v wrong. A REAL bad tps cause short hesitations AT THROTTLE TIP IN, then catches up. and is not misfire AT all but a tiny bog, (weak fueling )for and instant, hope its ok RE: 97 Sidekick Sport 1.8L - CUTS OUT AT 1/4 THROTTLE - MtTrails - 02-07-2017 OK, that makes sense because I had that apart when I turned the key on once. RE: 97 Sidekick Sport 1.8L - CUTS OUT AT 1/4 THROTTLE - MtTrails - 02-07-2017 The voltage checked out fine on the TPS switch. RE: 97 Sidekick Sport 1.8L - CUTS OUT AT 1/4 THROTTLE - rasmeidirt - 02-07-2017 (02-07-2017, 09:27 AM)MtTrails Wrote: The voltage checked out fine on the TPS switch. How much? Can you share that? Actually the PO 122 Throttle / Pedal position sensor / Switch A circuit Low is also my permanent code that I even cannot erase it by the scan tool. Yes, it is the permanent SES light on! But it has nothing to do with perfect idle, accelerating, bogging or hesitating at all. May be my trick is to keep filling up the tank full so that the fuel pump would not get stress after so many years! RE: 97 Sidekick Sport 1.8L - CUTS OUT AT 1/4 THROTTLE - fixkick - 02-07-2017 the TPS on the J18 up are set using only any voltmeter, no feeler guages now. 96 first year to offer this easy way, nice. really this is one my one-point-eight page and the TPS page and the real page from suz hot engine, so the fast idle device (step 3 forgets to say why ,stops are wrong) hot. water is answer http://www.fixkick.com/sensors/tests/TPS-testing.html#1.8_cal page 3, but doing it at ECU is bit crazy, the TPS can be reached more easy http://www.fixkick.com/sensors/TPS/1.8%20TPS%20pages/18L-TPS-CAL.pdf see the gray wire with no sripe, that is TP pin 0.5v set http://www.fixkick.com/ECU/18L/18LiterECU1.pdf RE: 97 Sidekick Sport 1.8L - CUTS OUT AT 1/4 THROTTLE - rasmeidirt - 02-08-2017 Yes, I just cannot set it to your instructed vol. RE: 97 Sidekick Sport 1.8L - CUTS OUT AT 1/4 THROTTLE - fixkick - 02-08-2017 can I have the data? please the Volts measured? where (make sure your meter is in DC volts mode, if manual meter 20vdc range, if auto ranger DMM , the ICON on the LCD tells you what range it used, (0.5v ok, 0.13mV bad. see that mv , The meter autoranged mili volt range. the icons matter, mv ,v, what does your gray wire read in volts ,zero 0v? , 0.2v , 5v what? (0 to 5v is the range, but only the low range is valid at idle) ok a real problem that.(or measurement errors) measure a 1.5v AAA or AA battery, to make sure the meter works, this is always done first, if meter acts odd. if reads wrong,(but what was it) so what is wrong, well its just a variable resistor, called a POT or Potentiometer, in electronics. what i do is read all 3 pins on the TPS , one by one, black lead on battery NEG post under all tests. the power pin must be +5vdc (4.75 to5.25vdc ) GRAY- red, aka, GRAY with red stripe ,KEY MUST BE ON. if 0v the TPS will be dead. if voltage super low ,unplug the sensor on the TB called, MAF, ok now this power voltage , yes, bingo I then measure, GRAY-yellow 0.0vdc, its ground , if at 5vdc, the ground is broken (easy , no?) any time any TPS reads , wrong , measure all 3 pins next , on all cars. on suz cars if the TP pin GRAY is broken, the gray wire drops to 0v... kind of a fail safe feature. in all cases, the DMM meter (Volts) black lead is connected to battery NEG lug, to get readings that don't lie, and allows ground errors to be seen as the ARE. I use needle probes, to back probe connector, (not unplugged, key on) in a pinch one can buy and use leather sewing needles, connect to jumper (alligator to alligator clips) back probing 101 http://www.agcoauto.com/content/news/p2_articleid/244 tell me actual results ,please. The TPS is a very important sensor. we can test it easy because its only "old TESLA" technology, a pure carbon POT RE: 97 Sidekick Sport 1.8L - CUTS OUT AT 1/4 THROTTLE - fixkick - 02-08-2017 just keep in mind, all sensors disconnected, with key on , STORE a DTC error code in ECU memory. all connectors have locks, do not force them, suzuki dont sell them either (keep that in mind) it's not harmful, its just its job to do that, those are ECU catastrophic fail monitors. but if the TP LINE IS CUT, BAM, THE CONNECTORS have brass pins, the needle must touch brass, to work.,, DMM set to volts. key on 0.5vdc on the TP pin. GRAY if tad low or high turn the tps to attain correct voltage. (screws on it a tad loose) then when about, 0.5v (.2v is fail) tighten those TPS screws. when you key on the ECU checks the TPS for illegal voltages, all modern car do, suzuki 1988 to now. the only tricky part of all this is some suzuki have cold coolant fast idle device, that , holds the throttle open, making TPS calibration only\ possible only on a hot engine. (if present it holds the TV throttle open mechanically, ) I think your is done with iAC electric valve only. the other pit fall is someone set the 2 throttle cables wrong (tight) one is throttle, other is , transmission, and 3 can be cruise. keep in mind procedures in books assume, no other molestation, other wise all procedures, become endless.. in this case the real book has line, like "insure nothing is interfering with the TV") TV means Throttle valve this brass plate. that includes, GUNK see GUNK this can get so think, that the TV can NOT close, idle speeds will race, if present. a top clue. http://www.fixkick.com/IDLE-AIR/Slide_Show/HTML/image_25.html |
