RE: ECU reporting wrong temp, No closed loop - luigi daniel - 04-08-2015 Thank You again ! Such comprehensive reply ! Here are extra data regarding the car in question : 2 doors, 3 speed, usually used inside town on Romania, Black Sea coast, 225 sized tyres. I've purchased the Tech1 right after getting this car( 10 years ago) as being the only tool (I knew about) to communicate with the ECM and to figure out where/what to do when in need of repairs. I will get the Rhino's interface now that I know that it works on Geos too ! Anxiously to get back home to test one recently purchased by a friend of mine and to check the readings against ones taken with my scanners. I hope everything I see wrong with both T1 and Mastertech will get to the right range when being red with Rhino's tools. Once the new version will show up, I will buy my own. Here is a new finding, related to this topic : on SQ416s, the ECT would have way less resistance than the ones for other Suzukis/Geos : 50C (122F) 136 RE: ECU reporting wrong temp, No closed loop - fixkick - 04-09-2015 here is your MPG, from the day one purchase, and peeled off the widow. http://www.fixkick.com/specs/orig-sales-sticker.jpg with a MPG gauge i can hit 30,mpg (usa gallon and never imperial) and takes hard work to get that. (and gingerly driving.). Your car is not a SQ416, its a SE416, so do not read books for UK cars, or others not USA cars. they are all wrong. You VIN number clearly tells what car is as is the RPO tag on the glove box, its an L01 GM engine G16B (same as suzuki and built side by side that way) Some facts on SE416s world wide and the scan tool must match them all to work, and none do. (lots of plugin... to match them...) there are a total of 28 SE416 engines , (what is your VIN?) just a casual look at all 28 engines, SE416 shows. the 13650-xxxx sensors are 4 part numbers. (might be more. counting all 1.6L) 84101 Santana. 61B00 in market code E24 (Australia.) 57F00 in man others and ours. the SQ416 uses the ECT , p/n suffix of ---- 50G01, this sensor is will not work on USA cars. so there 4 sensors. and my search was not exhaustive. (but took me an hour) as you see, the sensors, engine, and ECU and scan tool must match.! mpg is complex , as is misfiring, and smog. http://www.fixkick.com/MPG.html to work on a USA car located, in Europe will take careful parts buys. RE: ECU reporting wrong temp, No closed loop - fixkick - 04-09-2015 and if your ECU is telling correct temps and scan tool lies. what is the point ? of using wrong sensor.? (some ecu see overheat and retards spark if this happens) i can tell you if the water temp is 180f and the ECU is the correct ECU (is it?) and the ECU sees 180F all this is a moot point. (wrong tools) this ECU does not report temp., it reports voltage, the ECU scales by voltage (inside tables) the reported voltage , the scan tool must scale it the same way or will display the wrong, temp. ( a wild goose chase ensues) , and you need the log scale to make a scan tool work, right, a scale for every ecu made by suzuki, 1980s to 1995 here. and up to 2001 outside usa. here is a good (not yours table) even shows accuracy.! http://www.pe-ltd.com/joomla/images/downloads/coolant_temp.pdf here is the the only GM(GEO TRACKER) table in the FSM , below. as you can clearly see 190ohms is 210F. so......??? page 12 PDF http://www.acksfaq.com/96-FSM-v2-6E3-A-part2-pdf.htm or are you chasing the Ghost of USA versa's European, ECT sensors, seem to me , YES ! as you can see, 136 RE: ECU reporting wrong temp, No closed loop - fixkick - 04-09-2015 95 Geo Tracker 2 doors hard top 3speed A/T 16V 1.6l Fed 4x4 dan: here are some ways to find the truth under hood (bonnet?) here is a real tracker engine number see that "T" tango mark>? the RPO tag L01. (GM code for G16b 1.6L MPI engine) on glove box lid. my vin see that 2cn there? 2c for canada? see T there, that is 1996 code. http://www.fixkick.com/specs/Body-TAGS/images/MY-VIN96W.jpg the engine number with "T" that is 96 code ,used here only. in N.AMERICA ONLY. yours will be "S" for 1995. as will VIN code for year, the will match. http://www.fixkick.com/my96-16v/my-motor-serial1w.jpg Other countries this year mark is missing, is yours? missing, on your, engine . if yes, the engine was swapped. rockauto has good ECT seen here STANDARD MOTOR PRODUCTS Part # TX40T (the added T is a better quality sensor (not a year mark) by SMP, i ran this for years, and scans PERFECT) http://www.rockauto.com/catalog/raframecatalog.php?carcode=1142266&parttype=4748 look at only the 2 pin sensors here. do my forensics help? (this post is very hard, but i do have international data, unlike other forums) RE: ECU reporting wrong temp, No closed loop - fixkick - 04-10-2015 i see all your posts on other forums, all very good. i see the tech1, books with google. easy. but no books show the list of cartridges, only this photo. there are many suzuki ECU used, world wide, and each has its own sensors. my guess , is lots of cartridges exist , too bad no list exists. or is very hard to find. the docs warn not to plug your MTS into the wrong DLC conn. or the MTS blows up. ouch' ; wow your trackers has been to Africa ! 2x wow.... RE: ECU reporting wrong temp, No closed loop - luigi daniel - 04-10-2015 Thank you again ! Sure these help, gold mine ! The car was bought from the US and the VIN is 2CNBJ1869S6920XXX. RPO tag L01. ECM tag shows 33920-70EB 0 E2T42991 M1 4920C A6 US-3AT. Unfortunatelly, as I am away from home now, I cannot check the engine's plate but I can guarantee it is the original installed. ALL spare parts were purchased from the US even that the costs, per total, already exceeded the whole car's value ! First thing when back home I will check for cracks on exhaust, as per your advise. Then, another attempt to communicate, by using other hardware and software. Then, I'll know what to do. You have opened a laaarge horizon... Best regards, Luigi Daniel (04-10-2015, 05:13 AM)fixkick Wrote: i see all your posts on other forums, all very good. Wow, just received this post ! Yes, I already have the photo and it is the adaptor I use. Also bought the hard copies of all manuals concerning the Tech1 / MTS and Suzuki/Geo related cartridges ! RE: ECU reporting wrong temp, No closed loop - fixkick - 04-10-2015 it needs the correct ECT, and yours i bet is wrong. so you bought one from suzuki, GM or from a store (general auto) ? gosh hope not autozoned. with dura-junk parts.. the scan tool must read 180F for 180F stat. and be near 300 ohms, that car can sell (in no rust, and runs great) for as much as $3000 here, used, and highly coveted car in canada, (goes anywhere any time) good luck to you, !! my ECT cost me $25 at the ROCK. (or at NAPA or other great stores) RE: ECU reporting wrong temp, No closed loop - luigi daniel - 04-10-2015 (04-10-2015, 06:40 AM)fixkick Wrote: it needs the correct ECT, and yours i bet is wrong. As far as I remember, I've changed the original ECT for a Hella made bought from Europe and the scanner data readings were same as initial ones, taken with genuine ECT. I will order the sensor TX40T , install it and I will let you know the results. Thank you again ! And again ! RE: ECU reporting wrong temp, No closed loop - fixkick - 04-10-2015 what matters is the volts across the sensor at 180F its 180F true water temp(thermstat marked 180F) and IR pyro gun shows it there the voltage is 0.65vdc at 180F. if the voltage is correct, and the scan tool shows, way off, the scan tools is "wrong" the scan tool and plug-ins must match the car, engine, market codes, , VIN and ECT type (of which are 5 at least) " i think the tool attempts Vin lookups? " your ECU reports Volts, not temp. so the tool must not lie. (it must know your MARKET CODE or fail (in the VIN it is) i upgraded my table to show more data points. and added volts for OBD1 owners. "scanner same as initial" ECT, ?how is to say? the first ect is USA ect or the second/?. nor if tool even works ? this ECU only works with 13650-57F00 ECT, no others. http://www.suzukicarparts.com/parts/1995/Suzuki/Sidekick/JLX/index.cfm?action=partDetail§ion=ELECTRICAL&group=CHASSIS%20ELECTRICAL&subgroup=SENDERS&component=TEMP%20SENDING%20UNIT&partnumber=1365057F00&vehicleid=9158&siteid=214820 RE: ECU reporting wrong temp, No closed loop - luigi daniel - 04-10-2015 (04-10-2015, 10:00 PM)fixkick Wrote: what matters is the volts across the sensor at 180F its 180F true water temp(thermstat marked 180F) and IR pyro gun shows it there I have placed the order for TX40T sensor, on Rock. First ECT referred to is US, second is Hella. I know for sure that the scanners with the GM cartridge are offering the car selection by VIN, as alternative to make/year/model path that I've used before - never tried vehicle selection by VIN........... Anxious to get back home to progress the tests based on the above recommendations ! Thank you again ! |
