RE: 96 Tracker hot idle issue (MAF reverse engineered!) look! - fixkick - 05-02-2013 in Texas, they have saying " you quit school ,because they had recess." way to go.... ! thanks for sharing your successes. what to you get that great 1.6L economy, it sips fuel nice. the 7v show its in the center and no air leaks. nice... RE: 96 Tracker hot idle issue (MAF reverse engineered!) look! - gorkyb - 05-07-2013 All possible with your website and support. I drove it to work today, 18 miles each way. No CEL, I have my cheap code reader plugged in so I can make sure the CAT and EGR tests pass before I take it to get inspected. No one at work could believe the Tracker is actually back. I also did patch work on the hinge for the rear seat and where the rear seat belts base bolt to (only on passenger side. Not too bad considering it's my first welding job, good enough since it's covered by carpet anyway. Mechanically sounds and feels good. The rest is cosmetic and I can do little by little. Thank you fixkick for all the help, at one point I actually considered selling it to the best offer, I am glad I didn't. RE: 96 Tracker hot idle issue (MAF reverse engineered!) look! - fixkick - 05-07-2013 great news. I so glad the car , tuned up and runs great. you will love the economy. it really sips the fuel and can carry lots of stuff with back seat folded. i even carried home a spare engine, in mine. happy trails ! RE: 96 Tracker hot idle issue (MAF reverse engineered!) look! - TRACKERHACKER - 05-07-2013 Awwwsome, another Tracker back in service. RE: 96 Tracker hot idle issue (MAF reverse engineered!) look! - fixkick - 05-08-2013 can we barrow your car,,,,, heheheheheheheheh RE: 96 Tracker hot idle issue (MAF reverse engineered!) look! - gorkyb - 05-08-2013 So get this guys, I just went out for lunch on the tracker and took it to get the inspection, it passed with flying colors, the mechanic was looking hard too. I then went to pick up stuff for work at Home Depot, when I was ready to leave Home Depot, the car would not start, key on gave me the beep (weaker though) and when I went to the start position the beeping just died l, no dash lights, typical symptoms of a dying battery, since I repainted the floor on the whole car I emptied everything out so I wasn't carrying any tools, I asked a couple of guys to give me a push but it didn't work. I walked back into Home Depot to buy a small adjustable wrench so I can disconnect the terminals at the battery and set them back in. I did that but still same symptoms. During a start tryout I heard continuous clicking in the area behind the radio (sounded like a sticking relay) since I dot have my radio installed i started sticking my hand in there and feel stuff around, I though maybe I can feel what's making the clicking sound but I couldn't, I put the key back on the off position, tried starting again and the engine started up. Isn't that the area where the main relay is? RE: 96 Tracker hot idle issue (MAF reverse engineered!) look! - TRACKERHACKER - 05-08-2013 I heard that noise on sidekick I used to have. sounded like somewhere between radio and glove box. It came and went like yours RE: 96 Tracker hot idle issue (MAF reverse engineered!) look! - fixkick - 05-08-2013 you lost power, carry meter and the 16v ECU schematics on my schematic page, its 3 pages. print them out. carry the meter next time check power at the IG coil fuse, Dome and FI fuse under hood. both sides of fuses. and the cig lighter center pin, did you loose head lamps and parking lamps? , try all things in car, and report all losses of power, you lost CEL didnt you? the licking is all caused by lost power. we have all drawings on the 96, and can trace any path .... and show tests of any kind here. my guess its something simple. and easy to fix. loose fuse. ? wiper Head lamps CEL lamp fan brake lamp blinkers loose them? all these NARROW the CAUSE greatly. CONGRATS ON SMOG PASS !!!!!!!!!!!! RE: 96 Tracker hot idle issue (MAF reverse engineered!) look! - gorkyb - 05-08-2013 Yes I lost all lights on dashboard with key on, including cel, trust me after this ill make sure I carry all my tools in the tracker RE: 96 Tracker hot idle issue (MAF reverse engineered!) look! - fixkick - 05-08-2013 (05-08-2013, 04:15 AM)gorkyb Wrote: Yes I lost all lights on dashboard with key on, including cel, trust me after this ill make sure I carry all my tools in the tracker yes, i knew you would. but what else went dead.? on the 96. the CEL dead, means (an not headlights and not other accessories) best place to monitor volts is blue-black feed. at: main relay or ecu pins 12 or 13 , if you lose power to this pin blue-blk the ecu goes dead, CEL dead, and injectors dead, and coil dead. the blue-black runs about everything, even all solenoids. and always wiggle the ignition key, this too, can kill FI power. as can IG coil fuse.. IGfuse power the main relay coil. first make sure the fender box FI fuse is not corroded, and the wires underneath this fuse box loves to corrode. (in salt belt cars is common) if you dismantle this fender box, pull battery neg, lug first. see those 2 pins here. on ecu http://www.fixkick.com/ECU/1996/EFI1.jpg |
