RE: Compressions/Leakdown Test results - fixkick - 05-03-2024

ok the maf seems to be working , GREAT !
1200 cold engine is fully normal (IAC job 1), 180f water temp is , is 800 RPM hot never 1200

if the PCM sees 2 thing wrong like AC (HVAC) on , 1000 RPM fast idle happens or if the power steering overload switch is tripped.
CEL lamp out ,? cluster, running not, and CEL must blow as you key on from off (lamptest that is)
SCAN the PCM at the OBD2 port at knees , < NO DTC error set. right?
at hot idle the 02 sensor swings fast, about 6 times a second. this is Closed loop, that swinging action. the scan tool page 1 says CL = CLose loop or OL, open look if you scan it.
it looks like this running, http://fixkick.com/sensors/O2%20sensor/O2b1s1.jpg
fuel pressure is good for idle.

The fast idle is wrong, hot. means Air leaks or ECU is in limphome mode,

there are lots of problem spots, on this engine to get bad fueling rates
the MAF is good
the MAF piping all of it , is it stock or cold Air hackes.
the induction pip (huge) must not leak air ever, from end to end plastic the the metal pipe there. no cracks.
the ISC must not stick open
the IAC must not stick open hot. (thermal air controls)
the TB throttle valve not gummed up and stuck open, or the Cruise control options doing the same bad cables, not bad cables on the TV allowed to mess up idle,
The TB screw (the never touch) screw not hacked.

most leaks above (not TV and not ISA/AC) are called illegal un-metered air.
by illegal I mean AFR is wrecked, Air fuel ratio. due to outside car air LANDING behind the MAF sensor and if happens engine goes leak , if O2 can not correct the lean-ness .
if this AIr leak is too bad, the 02 drops out of closed loop, mode, hot engines and the scanned PCM shows Fuel trim is now dead.

one trick to see if PCM is doing the 1200, is to unplug the ISC connector, (assumes it now closed man and not gummed up) this prevents the PCM from running fast idle on purpose
effects of the , super low idle RPM or no change or not below 800; if this test keeps idle above 800 the PCM is not doing this , bad 1200 idle.
I have other tricks. to do , from classical to custom 16v tricks.
pinching all vacuum hoses , idle drops that hose or the end device on it leak air to the induction and bad. fix it now, here.
the IAC can be tested, and if stuck open hot, you still get (i think) close loop, and is normal air but is stuck active. there are tricks to block this path to prove it.
the IAC is mounted, below the TB. and is a wax pellet control, just like a water thermostat works and when old the wax ages, shrinks and no longer closed at 150f

this is all intake side causes of loss of closed loop or not.
cause by gross lean out.
yes there can be both ends of the engine failing intake and exhaust leaks near o2 and cracks there.
i bet unplugging the 02 FRONT_ does not cure 1200 RPM

my air leak ages shows how to find them.

http://fixkick.com/IDLE-AIR/leaks/High-Idle-Hit-List.html#16V

notice the slack in the throttle cable seen there, 1 of many causes. set wrong
see my blue arrows. those paths must not suck outdoor air.
the brake booster too can fail and suck air.
I cover TV valve calibration if some one wrecked it, I use 0.0005" feeler gauge (as vast Jaguars we set and documented) Suzuki is mute and I measured many 16v to clean this.
The TV is 99.9 closed, the the gap is only to prevent jam up or wear there.
this fact means only air there is , is,
Tv PLATE STUCK(GUN)
IDLE AIR BLEED SET WRONG
ISC FAILING OR STUCK OPEN
IAC FAILING.
Those are the only legit air supplies on this 16v engine.

the IAC hates to be remove and in that vain, is do this new trick
I use clay trick, packed in tight and if 1200 rpm ends BINGO FOR IAC IS BAD. just one trick test and bingo facts. learned data learn

here, see my reD arrow./???? IAC suck port it is. (metered air not illegal) If IAC fails , AFR does not go bad. just races way way too fast

It is best to check all input of air first and vacuum leaks on old cars. like this.

make sure the power steering PSI trip switch on the steering , is not tripped. this is power steering overloaded. detection and goes to 1000rpm

sorry for long post, but there is alot go wrong on this EFI setup but we can work though them all 1by1.

AFR = Air fuel ratio. lean or rich or good.

RE: Compressions/Leakdown Test results - fixkick - 05-03-2024

yes the TV can be stuck open many ways
throttle valve stuck (open)
hacked by hackers on the illegal screw (called TV idle stop screw, is a factory calibration)
all cables to the TV set wrong , must be slacked at idle (throttle , cruise and A/t tranny , were opted)
TV gunk'ed up
the bleed screw top rear, can be missing, hackers, error1. or unscrewed 99% this is not idle speed set, it is idle duty cycle setting for the ISC.
the bleed screw puts the ISC in the center of its authority. (FSM book pages , with DUTY cycle read)
