RE: !.6 16v in a Samurai - jd hogg - 07-19-2018 Fixkick I got the 98 motor put in my rag top. I also added an under the dash air conditioner. I have a 98 factory service manual and was able to find the ac idle up wire (yellow and black). I wired a relay in and powered it off of the compressor wire. It worked like a champ. I am still working on the hard top with the 96 motor. I was really surprised to see how much of a difference there was in the two computers. I may have to buy me a factory service manual to find the idle up wire on this one. Problem is the wires fade out and it is really hard to tell what is what. I want to give you a big thank you for all your help. JD RE: !.6 16v in a Samurai - fixkick - 07-19-2018 great , happy for you. your welcome. what ECU do you need data on. 96 or 98 and they are very different. in 1997 they moved the 4speed TCM(tranny brain box) inside the ECU, renaming ECU to PCM. huge change there. as you know , these ecu can not be flashed, so when updates happen you need new ecu each time, ($$$$$) the two top sites have the schematics, chiltons, online, and alldata.com both have this. tell me what year ecu is or AC ? 96 idle up is pin 9 C2(E34) http://www.fixkick.com/ECU/1996/EFI1.jpg off my schamatics page is this. (gm book for tracker) 1996 only, there is no other ecu that matches this, all are different. http://www.fixkick.com/ECU/1996/Ecu-pin-out96b.jpg or are you saying the wires colors are not good, (you have sun damage under the dash?)wow. the old FSM 96 is still lingering in the WAYBACK machine. give it time to load, (its slow at first) here it is https://web.archive.org/web/20101119080203/http://acksfaq.com/trackerfsm.htm see volume 2, all electrics are here 1996, extensive information, on all 1996 sidekicks and trackers, v2 (07-19-2018, 11:37 AM)jd hogg Wrote: Fixkick I got the 98 motor put in my rag top. The AC is the dealer installed (factory AC) and a combination of a 96 sidekick compressor after market condenser and a Samurai drier. I found a yellow wire in pin C but I'm not for certain its the idle up wire.I had looked on line but have not found all the colors of wires on that plug. I know its suppose to be yellow and black, the one I found in pin C looks like yellow with silver and maybe black dots. Again I thank you for all your help. don't know where your located but if you get to needing a good engine block I have a couple hid back.LOL JD RE: !.6 16v in a Samurai - jd hogg - 07-20-2018 THANK's for the link to the 96 service manual....no wonder I coundnt find the yellow and black wire Trail tough removed it from the plug. Lucky for me I keep the ABS harness and was able to remove a pin and wire to use to replace it. You saved me money not having to buy a manual for it!!! Your the MAN!!!! THANKS JD RE: !.6 16v in a Samurai - fixkick - 07-20-2018 so true the first thing trail tuff does is remove power steering then AC, even seats. that is a crawler harness. ha ha. good luck to you , keep cool and ride cool. |
