Can you share what are the names of the 4 COP and the part numbers and also where did you buy them? RE: 97 Sidekick Sport 1.8L - CUTS OUT AT 1/4 THROTTLE - fixkick - 02-20-2017 all good questions the a/t cable is the kickdown cable. to the a/t box. and is jammed, in your case, (hard to see both ends and true case ,yes) but the TCM has a backup to that (kickdown cable), called TPS input, the TCM sees you press the throttle hard and down shifts, later 2 more year? the cable was deleted. yes, the 3rd cable is Cruise, so you have no cruise. (on new cars, cruise is all software, + motor driven throttle TV ) make sure you still have 0.5v at the TPS, and all will work. ok. the trouble with stuck tranny TV cable is if it sticks pulled out. this causes tans to shift tool early, all the time. forever. the other end is very hard to reach,(horrid) behind, range switch and needs pan drop to replace it. http://www.fixkick.com/tranny/slush/slide-03-72LE/zuk-slush-pump4wd.jpg http://www.fixkick.com/tranny/slush/slide-03-72LE/html/image_12.html see this nice chart ,this is the effects of kick down and speed,, the dotted lines are the TV effects http://www.fixkick.com/tranny/slush/slide-03-72LE/html/image_25.html RE: 97 Sidekick Sport 1.8L - CUTS OUT AT 1/4 THROTTLE - fixkick - 02-20-2017 and the power button effects. RE: 97 Sidekick Sport 1.8L - CUTS OUT AT 1/4 THROTTLE - MtTrails - 02-21-2017 You are correct. This vehicle does not have cruise. I have always wondered why it shifts down too soon. The slightest hill makes it shift down. So you are saying the switch bolts are accessible by removing the oil pan? What is the name of the switch so I can look for one? Rasmeidirt This is where I got the COP’s: Ebay http://www.ebay.com/itm/142117589574?_trksid=p2057872.m2749.l2648&ssPageName=STRK%3AMEBIDX%3AIT RE: 97 Sidekick Sport 1.8L - CUTS OUT AT 1/4 THROTTLE - fixkick - 02-21-2017 (02-21-2017, 03:02 AM)MtTrails Wrote: You are correct. I have no comments china cloned, cops,, they are dirt cheap.. as low as boots, here, The Suzuki 96-98 SPORT 1.8L 33410-77E11 (96-97 with external ignitior) and 33410-77E21 in 98' with internal ignitor. (apples and oranges different) here are the real parts, who to buy clones on such a rare car ,is not easy, so few still running not , and less asking for help... in 1998 the ignitors were moved into the COP actual / the cable can fail many ways snap rust and seize fray and jam or just need lube? replacing it is a nightmare. right? unlike the very old 3L30 3,speed. only the transmission book see the PNRDL switch here, on the rGHT end of the Manual CONTROL VALVE. ROD. http://www.fixkick.com/tranny/slush/slide-03-72LE/zuk-slush-pump4wd.jpg NOW SEE INSIDE TRANSMISSON SEE PART20,,, THAT IS WHAT THE END OF THE CABLE FITS UPON. AGAIN IT IS INSIDE THE BOX http://www.fixkick.com/tranny/slush/slide-03-72LE/html/image_20.html AMAZING, MY PAGE COVERS THIS HERE... FORGOT AFTER 10 LONG YEARS. SEE THIS? IT CLEAR , I HOPE. http://www.fixkick.com/tranny/slush/OD-flashes%20now%20what.html#kick-down_facts I'd attempt to lube it and free it up,, avoiding a huge job. this box is A44DE (Aisin BorgWarner) how to connect this end , is by their design not suzuki's if use a motorcycle hand lever cable oiler. ever seen cables on a motor cycle, throttle or clutch the sell cable oilier that have fitting tool allowing you to force lube a cable. after wait 24hr. see if it Free's up? might save 5hours hard labor. or more.. more.see this see chapter 7b1? see page 86 (pdf page) doing exactly this step, cable off. step 14 to 20 is the DEAL. drain pan oil and the VB is removed. a very risky step that. step 18 is not easy. what if VB gasket is damaged. doing this on car, with VB dripping in face, and then removing the VB bolts, and it wanting to fall on your face, is no fun, I.m thinking Bunji cords wrapped here, then tilt the VB down, and detach cable, then let bunji pull it back up? http://www.fixkick.com/tranny/sidekick_drivetrain_manual.pdf VB service on car, ifs for the brave, many shops will not even try.... for cause. RE: 97 Sidekick Sport 1.8L - CUTS OUT AT 1/4 THROTTLE - fixkick - 02-21-2017 the tranny tv cable actually drops line main pressures inside , extending shift points, hydraulically. the TPS is a partial backup to that. the rules on that are a secret , but i can tell you for fact the TV cable always wins this battle, (hydraulic wins) RE: 97 Sidekick Sport 1.8L - CUTS OUT AT 1/4 THROTTLE - MtTrails - 02-21-2017 OK, so I'll be trying to free up the cable today and I'll report back. I don't really want to get into the inside of the tranny. I don't really want to get into the inside of the tranny. yes avoid all pan drops , until solenoids fail...yes. LOTS OF WAYS use plastic sandwich bag and cable top end bashed in to bottom of bag they ,yes, duck tape that so cant fall out and leak oil,,, then duct tape (again) the bag to hood so opening is up fill bad with 2 teaspoon oil. and let set over night. let mother earth Gravity work in your favor? the exercise that cable, for it to free up? and then feel the return spring inside the transmission? its like the throttle but far weaker spring. the trans sucks the cable back, by its self when working correctly RE: 97 Sidekick Sport 1.8L - CUTS OUT AT 1/4 THROTTLE - MtTrails - 02-21-2017 OK, thanks for that great tip. I will do this today. Will anything be damaged if I were to force the cable back a bit to help free it up?
