99 Tracker. Right CV coupling pulled out of housing - Dewmore - 01-20-2018 4wd quit,, looked under front to see the right side joint pulled at least 1 1/2 out of housing. What holds this in differential ?? Questional damage to this point. RE: 99 Tracker. Right CV coupling pulled out of housing - Perry - 01-21-2018 Nothing holds that side in (inside the front housing). It slips in, and then held in place once the housing is bolted down, or you reinstall your strut back on the control arm (depending on which way you removed it. Either is fine) I’m willing to but you have a broken top mount on your front housing. It’s an aluminium flange with 2 bolts that is prone to cracking. Under heavy torque (usually reverse+4 low) the housing wants to move up/twist and it will break. Once it’s broken this same stress will cause it move around and your CV can pop out, you may also hear the driveshaft rubbing. RE: 99 Tracker. I have found a reference to a circle clip on axle to retain in differential. Without disassembling I can freely push axle in an out of differential RE: 99 Tracker. Right CV coupling pulled out of housing - fixkick - 01-21-2018 see this page, it needs an axle kit its busted for sure the drawings prove that. next we made this long ago, lots of contributors , and ways and means. all the suzuki Cir-clips (snap rings are in the drawing) im guessing part 11 failed? http://www.fixkick.com/axles/Pan-drop/pandrop.html RE: 99 Tracker. Right CV coupling pulled out of housing - fixkick - 01-21-2018 no photos of damage so only wild guessing by me., sorry RE: 99 Tracker. Right CV coupling pulled out of housing - fixkick - 01-21-2018 i can promise, once pulled, you go,,,all this failed, keep open mind, let evidence tell you. RE: 99 Tracker. I think it be 11.. I got a screenshot attached (not my part) of the shaft assembly of a 99 that moves freely in an out The illustration or me could be different RE: 99 Tracker. Right CV coupling pulled out of housing - Dewmore - 01-21-2018 [attachment=739]The pointer at cir- clip is what is needed I b guessing— now just WTH does s person find just the clip? Part number unknown. Family matters come first, back n a few days RE: 99 Tracker. Right CV coupling pulled out of housing - Dewmore - 01-25-2018 UPDATE: Drained differential, inspection of lube produced no metal grindings,, fished out of case a few pieces which were remenants of cir-clip. Project on hold until weather warms. So far to find clip at part stores and GM has been futile. Over & Out RE: 99 Tracker. Right CV coupling pulled out of housing - fixkick - 01-25-2018 finding circlips is not easy. metric most folks buy whole axle kit and do the whole thing. (after all the labor, not wanting second play ,soon) but you might get lucky,. the rings are (snap) are very tough case hardened spring steel (no beer can metal as sold from jokers in China) |
